I grew up in Japan and was immersed in their culture, people, and traditions. I resonated with their anime, manga, and anything related to art. I learned emotions through their language and it helped me find my identity, agency, and personality. I am a first-generation Filipino-American born into a military family of five, I'm the fifth, at a hospital in California. I spent my adolescent and teenage years on American military bases in Japan such as in Misawa and housing posts near Yokota and Yokouska., but now currently live my adult years in Colorado.
With that said, my powers would probably be something related to the Nickelodeon show, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" which is an animated television program about a universe where there are those that can bend the elements such as water, earth, air, and fire. Not all of the people, in their respective nations, can bend the elements, but that usually led them to practice martial arts and techniques that disabled people who had the ability.
With that said, I would have an ability of the Avatar which can control all the elements, which goes one step deeper in the type of super power I would want.
The show progresses with themes of racism, bigotry, power, and domination (among many other relevant issues that parallel reality's history). Not unlike modern society, characters mingle with other races from different nations and the world, as a family in general, try to navigate life through diplomacy, force, spirituality, religion, and morality.
One of the ability's the Avatar is able to consult with past ancestors, including previous Avatars that preceded the current one. Being able to get wisdom from the past is similar to thinking about mentors, heroes, and role models at your fingertips.
The Avatar's ability that I would ideally want is to waterbend because there is potential to bloodbend. Bloodbending is portrayed as a dark magic type of skill, but can also be used to heal. It is similar to religion and how extremists can use ideology that initially had positive intent for the wrong reasons.
